Why does the Tudor Dynasty interest so many people?

There have been myriad books, movies, television series, websites, etc. on the subject of the Tudor Dynasty. All of them put their own spin on history, some for sheer entertainment, and others to try to set the historical record straight. This is not a recent phenomenon; historians have been debating for centuries about what exactly is the true history of the Tudor period.

One theory put forth for the reason there is great interest in the Tudor period is that instead of there being a lack of resources about the time period, there are too many. Even today we have a plethora of documents, letters, manuscripts, and so many other sources that can tell us about life in Tudor times. At times these can be contradictory, and that lends itself well to vigorous debate. Additionally, it was a fascinating time in history. New learning, new theology, new ideas flourished.

Whatever brought you to your interest in Tudor history, this site aims to cultivate that interest, and hopefully provide useful information, as well as Tudor related entertainment.
